Before we get on to the connection between the IPCC and the Perseid’s, I just wanted to say already the evenings are drawing in…and yet I don’t feel as if Summer has had a chance to start!
Ma Wee Cottage…
When I took this picture it was twilight at 8.45pm not good:( How I hate the thought of long dark evenings..not for me. I’m seriously affected by SAD. Yes I love curling up in front of the fire and the hibernation of it all, slowing down and taking stock, but here in the UK it goes on for too long. Okay that rant is over…moving on.
So where is the connection between the IPCC and the Perseid’s, well both happened and are happening during this month July/Aug, Perseid’s peaking this evening 12th August till early dawn 13th., so get out and see them hopefully if a clear sky allows. Leading scientists advising the The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has happened and stated:
IPCC: “Meat consumption and deforestation is fuelling the climate crisis.”
This is a pretty sobering thought, and one we should all think about seriously. They are talking to the converted in me as I have been a committed vegetarian for over 35yrs. Its not just meat though that we have to cut down on, but also dairy. Saying that its been hard for me to become totally Vegan as I love cheese, but am now on the path to being one. Sunday evenings is Pizza night, below is my hand made pizza, totally organic, Vegan and delicious, at last I can say I have been Vegan for 2 months now. The before and after with all that lovely fresh organic Rocket added!
Before
After…Yum Yum!!
There will always be arguments against what the scientists have been telling us for over 30yrs now. Just today I heard on the radio a beef farmer stating that what he does is actually good for the countryside, dismissing whatever science is stating as a fact. Yes it will be hard for them at the beginning, they will have to be helped change over to horticultural practices, but its no use sticking heads in sand and doing nothing.
There are many with vested interests who will of course take his corner, many meat eaters out there will breathe a sigh of relief when they hear these arguments as it makes it easier for them to continue to consume and not feel guilty about it, or even worse think about having to cut down on their meat consumption. As an argument many say ‘its not going to make any difference if only I stop, everyone has to, and I’m not seeing that happening’. Greta Thunberg last year, at the age of 15 decided that she had to make a stand. She saw her Planet being depleted and destroyed, asking would there be a future for her generation and generations to come if we do not act now.
This young girl decided it was important enough to do something about it, on her own. Now she has spoken in front of world leaders and governments with many listening and following her example. Will we just be complacent and continue to go on as we always do, or will we at least try to do something, starting with ourselves and do as the scientists are asking by cutting down on meat consumption, amongst other things. If you care about the next generation you will.
Our world is every changing, we also should be in order to save and protect it, it is our responsibility to do so.
No need for animal slaughter.
