My Life so far….

Born in the West Coast of Scotland, I started singing at an early age at Ceilidhs, mum, dad, Frank and Harry would all take part. Harry left me his guitar when he immigrated to America, he taught me a few chords and so it began....

Music has taken me all over the world, the furthest being South Africa.  Whilst there I was offered a recording contract from a major music company called Satbel in Johannesburg,  unfortunately because I signed a petition against apartheid whilst I was in Durban, after 9 months of being in the country, the Government tracked me down in a small place called George and gave me 24hrs to leave the country!

Back home, I performed in Scotland alongside Dougie MacLean for Amnesty International. Blandford Festival performing alongside another fellow Scot Dick Gaughan. Celtic Connections, Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow was always fun and always a bonus to be back in my homeland.

Being an environmental conservationist, several of my songs highlight the plight of endangered species, including the work people do throughout the world to save animals from extinction and cruelty:  We All Bleed: Another Day: Braveheart and Mother Earth reflect these issues. Other film/songs include A Journey and Call of the Wild about my family and life in Scotland these can be seen when you click on the titles.

Its been fun and very educational travelling throughout the world singing and playing music, from sitting busking outside a beautiful Cathedral in Nelson, NZ, to doing a well attended ‘In Concert’ at The White House (ha I got you there!!) no not The White House, but (Timucua) which is also called The White House in Orlando, Florida. Whilst performing at the concert, I had short films that I had made showing behind me, reflecting the meaning and lyrics of the songs. I am hoping to be able to show a clip of the evening, http://vimeo.com/161561132, when I get the clip to work! Timucua was started by Benoit Glazer who used to be a director of Cirque de Soleil, and very talented jazz musician. Amazing place to visit if you are ever in Orlando.

I’ve organised/supported, and appeared, in many events for Children in Need throughout the years, here and also in the Channel Islands, where I started up a folk club on Jersey for up and coming musicians, which ran for many successful years.

A wonderful and brilliant New Zealand film producer Carlie Jackson reached out to me and wanted to use one of my songs Braveheart, for a film she was producing called Dominion. The film highlights the cruelty of the food industry. Please be warned this is a hard film to watch but it is what is going on in the production of food in order to satisfy people’s appetites no matter the cruelty and suffering involved.

Sadly, the New Zealand authorities would not allow the film to be shown, as they deemed it inappropriate to be aimed at an age group of 18yrs olds. Which was the point to make the next generation aware of the cruelty that is happening in their country, in the hope they could change the laws.

Braveheart was also liked by Elton John on Facebook, it highlights the plight of Orangutan's in Borneo and the destruction to their habitat due to the Palm Oil industry.

Full version of songs listed above will be available through a streaming service such as Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music, iTunes Store, Deezer and Tital.

Performing in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Europe, has all been so fulfilling and memorable, I need to write a book, so that I don’t forget!!

Other interests: I’ve always loved looking deep into nature with my camera, its a passion I hope more and more to develop. Some of the studies you’ll find here on the webpage.

My dream: "If I can through my music or photo’s, make someone’s day seem more worthwhile, bring a smile, and also give a voice to species that need man's help, then my brief Journey here will not be in vain . To leave this beautiful Planet a better place is all that matters.”
